LEGO Minifigures Series 28 codes: all 12 Animals and how to scan

Checked on 18 October 2026. LEGO Minifigures Series 28 is the Animals series, set 71051, also listed as CMF Series 28: twelve minifigures in animal costumes, each in a sealed cardboard box. It launched worldwide on 1 January 2026 (Jay's Brick Blog, Merlin's Bricks) and is the first collectible minifigure series made up entirely of animal costumes. On 18 October 2026 LEGO.com UK listed it as discontinued. To find out which animal is in a box without opening it, scan the square Data Matrix code on the bottom: the first seven digits name the figure. Below are the codes for all twelve, the one thing every other code list skips (the Crocodile), how to scan, and each animal in turn. You can tick off your own figures right below the list or in the LEGO Minifigures Series 28: Animals checklist.
LEGO Series 28 code list, with what's in each box
| Animal | Box codes | In the box |
|---|---|---|
| Peacock | 6584394, 6584381 | sunflower |
| Fluffy Cat | 6584395, 6584382 | pink ball of yarn |
| Goldfish | 6584392, 6584379 | jar of fish food |
| Monkey | 6584398, 6584385 | banana |
| Frog | 6584390, 6584377 | bubble wand, “BUBBLES” jar |
| Koala | 6584396, 6584383 | boomerang, leafy branch |
| Dalmatian | 6584391, 6584378 | frisbee |
| Crocodile | 6584389 | life ring, rubber duck |
| Dolphin | 6584397, 6584384 | shell with a pearl |
| Cute Bunny | 6584393, 6584380 | Easter egg, basket |
| Lion | 6584388, 6584375 | chicken drumstick |
| Parrot | 6584387, 6584374 | snack box |
These are the first seven digits a Data Matrix scanner returns. We only list codes on which two independent lists agree, BrickNav and Minifigure Scanner, both checked on 18 October 2026: that gives two codes for eleven figures and one for the Crocodile. BrickLink catalogues the figures as Peacock Costume Fan, Monkey Costume Fan and so on (col28-1 to col28-12); the leaflet in the box drops the “Fan”, and according to Jay's Brick Blog calls the Dalmatian simply Dog Costume. The same codes are in the Box codes table on the set page.

Are the Series 28 codes different in the UK?
Nobody publishes that. The line printed under the square tells you where the box was made: according to Jay's Brick Blog, an S marks the Czech factory that supplies the UK and the EU, an R the Mexican one for the US and Canada. But neither BrickNav nor Minifigure Scanner says which of the two code runs comes from which factory, and none of the lists we checked has a separate column for the UK, Europe or Australia. So whatever “Series 28 codes UK” list you find, compare your scan with every code given for the figure. LEGO has changed codes between production runs before (Jay's Brick Blog, Brick Current), so a number missing from the list is worth checking in a collector scanner app.
The Crocodile code problem
This is where code lists quietly disagree. Both give the Crocodile 6584389. For its second code, Minifigure Scanner has 6584376 and BrickNav 6584375 — but BrickNav also lists 6584375 as the Lion's second code, and Minifigure Scanner agrees that 6584375 is the Lion. One of BrickNav's two entries must be wrong, and 6584376 has only one source, so we leave the Crocodile with a single code.
- 6584389: Crocodile, on both lists.
- 6584375: Lion, on both lists.
- 6584376: Crocodile on Minifigure Scanner only. If a box scanned as 6584376 turned out to hold the Crocodile, say so in the comments below; that is the second confirmation we're missing.
BrickNav also carries a third run of Series 28 codes that no other source repeats, so it isn't included.
How to scan a Series 28 box
Turn the box over. Next to the ordinary barcode is a large Data Matrix square, the thing most collectors call the QR code; it has been on minifigure boxes since Series 25 (71045) in 2024. Any Data Matrix reader will do, and collector apps such as Minifigure Scanner and the Jay's Brick Blog scanner turn the number into a name for you. Take the first seven digits and look them up above: 6584388 or 6584375 is the Lion. Ignore the printed line under the square and the EAN barcode; neither identifies the figure.
There is no feel guide for Series 28. Feeling for parts belonged to the foil-bag era, and Jay's Brick Blog wrote on 14 August 2023 that cardboard boxes had ended it. We found no weight table for Series 28 boxes either (18 October 2026), so the code is the reliable way.
Series 28 animals one by one
Every figure gets a newly moulded costume headpiece (Jay's Brick Blog, New Elementary), and all twelve stand on a lime 3×4 tile, a colour new for the stand (New Elementary, BrickOwl). Names and pictures link to each figure's page.
Monkey, Lion, Koala and Crocodile
Monkey: the rubber tail grips its banana (Jay's Brick Blog, New Elementary), there's a plaster on one cheek, and the second face sticks its tongue out.
Lion: a new mane headpiece, a new rubber tail with a dark tuft and claws on the feet (Jay's Brick Blog, New Elementary). The alternative face roars, and the accessory is a chicken drumstick.
Koala: a headpiece with a big round nose and a second face wearing a “ZZZZ” sleep mask, a print previously found only in 60367 Passenger Airplane (Jay's Brick Blog, New Elementary). It comes with a boomerang and a leafy branch.
Crocodile: the headpiece runs into a ridged tail (Jay's Brick Blog). The new life ring is moulded in white and trans-pink with a bar for the hand to hold (Jay's Brick Blog, New Elementary), and there's a rubber duck. One confirmed code: 6584389.
Frog, Parrot, Peacock and Dolphin
Frog: a lime headpiece with yellow eyes, a bubble wand with an opal bubble and a “BUBBLES” jar; the second face is blowing a bubble (Jay's Brick Blog, The Brick Fan, New Elementary). Jay's Brick Blog and New Elementary both single it out as a favourite.
Parrot: a tail made of two fabric pieces, a larger blue one and a smaller red one, wing arms and a new headpiece with a curved beak (Jay's Brick Blog, New Elementary, The Brick Fan). The accessory is a snack box.
Peacock: a large printed tail fan slots between torso and legs; New Elementary identifies it as the Series 23 turkey tail in new colours. Blue wing arms, a beaked headpiece with a crest and a sunflower complete it, and Jay's Brick Blog warns the tail is heavy enough to tip the figure over without its stand.
Dolphin: a new light-blue headpiece moulded with the tail, and a shell with a pearl (The Brick Fan, BrickOwl).
Fluffy Cat, Dalmatian, Cute Bunny and Goldfish
Fluffy Cat: a new headpiece, not the one from the Series 18 Cat Costume Girl (Jay's Brick Blog, New Elementary), a collar, a pink ball of yarn and a sleepy second face with closed eyes.
Dalmatian: spots almost everywhere, including the sides of the legs (Jay's Brick Blog, New Elementary), a 2×2 frisbee that Jay's Brick Blog matches to the Outdoor Sports logo from LEGO City, and a tongue-out second face.
Cute Bunny: cream fur with a white tummy, a pom-pom tail printed on the back, an Easter egg with flowers and a basket. The last bunny head in the series was Series 6's Bunny Suit Guy (Jay's Brick Blog, New Elementary).
Goldfish: a two-colour headpiece with the lips, fin and tail moulded in (Jay's Brick Blog, New Elementary), printed scales on torso and legs, and a jar of fish food.
Box of 36, 6-pack and the rarest Series 28 minifigure
LEGO marks none of the twelve as rare and doesn't publish how a case is packed. Jay's Brick Blog says a retail box of 36 should contain three complete sets, so each animal three times; treat that as the site's expectation, not a LEGO guarantee. A full set is twelve boxes if you never get a repeat. In the US and Canada LEGO also sold a 6-pack of Series 28 boxes, set 66813 (Merlin's Bricks). We have no resale prices confirmed by two sources, so we don't name a most valuable figure; each figure's page shows how many ColleX collectors have it and how many want it.
Can you still buy Series 28?
On 18 October 2026 LEGO.com UK listed Series 28 as Discontinued, as did the French and Spanish LEGO stores, while LEGO.com in Germany, Italy and Poland still showed it in stock. Availability changes, so check your own store before you go looking.
Keeping track of Series 28 on ColleX
The marks under the code list and on the set page are one list: “Have” in one place shows in the other, and the set page counts how many of the twelve animals you have. The next series, LEGO Minifigures Series 29, has its own code guide, and so does the Shrek series. Every series is in the LEGO section.
Frequently asked questions
What is the LEGO Series 28 Monkey code?
6584398 or 6584385: the first seven digits a Data Matrix scanner shows for the code on the bottom of the box. BrickNav and Minifigure Scanner both list these two codes for the Monkey (checked 18 October 2026).
What are the Frog and Lion codes in LEGO Series 28?
The Frog is 6584390 or 6584377 and the Lion 6584388 or 6584375. Both pairs are confirmed by BrickNav and Minifigure Scanner.
What is the LEGO Series 28 Crocodile code?
6584389 is the one code both lists agree on. Their second codes differ: Minifigure Scanner gives 6584376, BrickNav 6584375, which is also the Lion's code, so we list only 6584389.
What are the Koala, Cat and Parrot codes?
Koala 6584396 or 6584383, Fluffy Cat 6584395 or 6584382, Parrot 6584387 or 6584374. The full list for all twelve animals is at the top of this guide.
How do you identify LEGO Series 28 minifigures without opening the box?
Scan the large square Data Matrix code on the bottom with any Data Matrix reader and match the first seven digits to the code list. The EAN barcode and the line printed under the square don't identify the figure.
When did LEGO Minifigures Series 28 come out?
On 1 January 2026, worldwide (Jay's Brick Blog, Merlin's Bricks). On 18 October 2026 LEGO.com UK listed it as Discontinued.
How many figures make a full set of Series 28?
Twelve: Peacock, Fluffy Cat, Goldfish, Monkey, Frog, Koala, Dalmatian, Crocodile, Dolphin, Cute Bunny, Lion and Parrot, numbered 71051-1 to 71051-12. According to Jay's Brick Blog, a box of 36 should hold three full sets.
Can I swap duplicate Series 28 minifigures on ColleX?
Set your duplicates to “Have” with a quantity of 2 or more and mark the animals you still need as “Want”. ColleX shows collectors whose spares and wants match yours, you agree the swap in chat, and duplicates can also be offered for trade where the ColleX Market is open in your country.
