LEGO Minifigures Series 10 (71001), May 2013: 16 figures plus Mr. Gold, the chrome-gold minifigure limited to 5,000 copies, each with its own number.

LEGO Minifigures Series 10, set 71001, had its official release set for 1 May 2013, but some shops put the bags out in April (The Brick Fan, 18 April 2013; The Brick Blogger, 21 April 2013). There are 16 regular characters – Librarian, Medusa, Roman Commander, Warrior Woman, Tomahawk Warrior, Skydiver, Bumblebee Girl, Grandpa, Paintball Player, Sea Captain, Sad Clown, Revolutionary Soldier, Baseball Fielder, Trendsetter, Decorator and Motorcycle Mechanic – and a 17th, Mr. Gold (also written Mister Gold). On ColleX the 16 regular figures make a complete set; Mr. Gold is listed separately and does not count towards it. Mr. Gold was made to mark the tenth series (Wikipedia, Blocks Magazine), and only 5,000 were produced worldwide (The Brick Fan, The Brick Blogger, Eurobricks). He is chromed gold and holds a cane-like sceptre topped with a crystal. LEGO dropped the figures into boxes at random, so most Series 10 boxes had none. Each Mr. Gold carries its own number out of 5,000 (The Brick Fan, The Brick Blogger), and the bag held a unique code that finders entered on LEGO’s website to put their figure on the Mr. Gold map (The Brick Blogger, 5 May 2013). The first finds came before the official date: The Brick Fan reported a Mr. Gold found on 16 April 2013.
