About the set LEGO Minifigures Series 2

LEGO Minifigures Series 2 (8684), September 2010: 16 figures — Pharaoh, Spartan Warrior, Witch, Vampire, Mime — and the last bags with a figure barcode.

LEGO Minifigures Series 2 came only months after the first wave: set 8684 reached shops in September 2010, on 2 September according to English Wikipedia (Brickipedia gives September 2010). The sixteen are Mariachi / Maraca Man, Spartan Warrior, Circus Ringmaster, Witch, Vampire, Traffic Cop, Explorer, Lifeguard, Mime, Weightlifter, Pop Star, Skier, Disco Dude, Karate Master, Surfer and Pharaoh. The first of them answers to two names. LEGO’s 2010 product text called him the Mariachi, Wikipedia lists him as the Maraca Man, and BrickLink files him under both (the LEGO text is quoted by Brickipedia) — a musician in a sombrero and poncho shaking a pair of maracas. The rest of the wave draws on history, the circus and horror: the Pharaoh with his sceptre, the Spartan Warrior with helmet, cape, spear and shield, the Witch with her broom, the caped Vampire with a bat and the Circus Ringmaster with a whip and top hat (Brickipedia, BrickLink catalogue photos). The Mime in his striped top holds spare faces, the Weightlifter a barbell, the Karate Master a gold trophy and the Traffic Cop handcuffs and a ticket.
