About this item

A frill from the cinema

The real Dilophosaurus lived in the Early Jurassic, about 186 million years ago, in North America; it was about seven metres long and had two crests on its head. It had no frill — that was invented for the film Jurassic Park, and the Kinder figure has one.

The frill is a separate part

According to Ferrero’s leaflet, Dilophosaurus is built from three parts: two halves of the body and the frill, which is pushed on from above. The name Dilophosaurus is the same in the collector databases, at the shops and in the Ü-Ei-Portal catalogue. On 5 October 2026 eierlei-shop.de asked €0.99 for it — the lowest price of the series at that shop, shared with Lambeosaurus (VC113); at ue-ei-punkt.de it was €1.29, and astrocollection.it had sold out (€3.50).

FAQ

Which Kinder dinosaur has a frill?+

Dilophosaurus, code VC111: olive-brown, with a red-and-orange pattern on its open frill. In the series it sits between Brachiosaurus (VC110) and the blue predator VC112.

Did the real Dilophosaurus have a frill?+

No. The frill was invented for the 1993 film, and the venom spit before that, for Michael Crichton’s novel; the real dinosaur had two crests on its head.
